Registration of trials

•     JMCHS follows ICMJE policy: clinical and community trials must be registered in a WHO ICTRP Primary Registry or ClinicalTrials.gov before the first participant is enrolled.

•     Trials in India must be registered in the Clinical Trials Registry – India (CTRI). Trials in other countries should be registered in the national primary registry where one exists.

•     This applies to individually randomised and cluster-randomised community trials, non-randomised controlled intervention studies, and behavioural, nutritional, educational and health-systems interventions that assign participants or communities to an intervention to measure a health outcome.

•     The registry name and number must appear at the end of the abstract.

•     Retrospectively registered trials are considered only exceptionally, with the reason stated in the article.

•     Trial reports must include a data sharing statement.

Systematic reviews

Prospective registration of systematic review protocols in PROSPERO or a similar registry is strongly encouraged; the registration number should be given in the abstract.
